Gothic Gala

Description

The Gothic Gala: A night of elegance and mystery at the crumbling Ravencrest Manor, where ancient secrets lurk behind every shadow and the line between the living and the dead grows thin as the clock strikes midnight.

Plot

The reclusive and eccentric Lord Edgar Ravencrest has invited an exclusive group to his decaying family estate for the annual Gothic Gala, a tradition dating back centuries. The guests arrive amid a violent thunderstorm that has cut off all communication with the outside world. As the night progresses, tensions rise among the attendees, each harboring their own secrets and connections to the Ravencrest family fortune. Ancient family curses, hidden wills, forbidden romances, and decades-old vendettas come to light during the evening. When the lights flicker out during a séance meant to contact Edgar's late wife, chaos ensues. When the candles are relit, someone lies dead, and everyone is a suspect. The remaining guests must work together to solve the mystery before the killer strikes again, all while uncovering the dark history of Ravencrest Manor that may hold the key to the murderer's identity.

Dress Code

Victorian Gothic attire is required. Gentlemen should wear dark formal suits, waistcoats, pocket watches, and cravats. Top hats and walking canes are encouraged. Ladies should don high-necked black or jewel-toned gowns with lace details, corsets, and cameo brooches. Opera-length gloves and mourning jewelry featuring jet beads or hair work are appropriate. All guests may incorporate subtle macabre elements such as raven feathers, dried flowers, or silver skull pins. Pale makeup with darkened eyes will enhance the Gothic atmosphere.

Speaking Style

Address others formally using titles such as 'Lord,' 'Lady,' 'Doctor,' or 'Professor.' Speak in measured, deliberate tones with a hint of melancholy. Make frequent references to omens, superstitions, and the supernatural. Use Victorian euphemisms for death and illness, such as 'the final sleep' or 'consumption.' Pepper your speech with literary quotes from Gothic authors like Poe, Shelley, or Stoker. When discussing unpleasant matters, lower your voice to a whisper. Maintain proper etiquette at all times, even when making accusations. Dramatic pauses and meaningful glances are encouraged to build tension.
