Wild West Showdown

Description

Dust Gulch, 1885. A booming mining town where fortunes are made and lost in the blink of an eye. As the sun sets over the rugged mountains, tensions rise at the grand opening of the Golden Nugget Saloon. The whiskey flows freely, cards are dealt with suspicious hands, and deadly secrets lurk behind forced smiles. When the celebrations take a dark turn, everyone becomes a suspect in this lawless frontier where justice is as scarce as rain.

Plot

The town of Dust Gulch is celebrating the grand opening of the Golden Nugget Saloon, owned by wealthy mining magnate Goldie Diggs. The event has drawn a diverse crowd of locals and outsiders, each with their own agenda. A railroad tycoon threatens to bypass the town unless certain demands are met. A mysterious stranger has arrived with ties to someone's past. Old rivalries between mining families simmer beneath the surface. A prized deed to a supposedly gold-rich claim changes hands multiple times throughout the evening. When the night takes a deadly turn, Sheriff Wyatt Justice must determine who among the guests had the motive, means, and opportunity to commit the crime. But in a town built on greed and deception, everyone has something to hide.

Dress Code

Embrace the Wild West era (1880s) with period-appropriate attire. Men might wear cowboy hats, vests, bandanas, boots with spurs, and perhaps a (toy) revolver in a holster. Women can don frontier dresses, saloon girl outfits, or practical riding skirts with boots. Accessories like pocket watches, brooches, and feathered hairpieces add authenticity. Prospectors should look dusty and worn, while wealthy characters can display flashier attire with gold accessories. Lawmen should wear stars on their chests, and outlaws might sport bandanas that could be pulled up as masks.

Speaking Style

Speak with Wild West flair by using period-appropriate slang and expressions. Replace 'yes' with 'yep' or 'sure as shootin',' and 'no' with 'nope' or 'not by a long shot.' Refer to money as 'greenbacks' or 'gold dust.' Call guns 'six-shooters' or 'irons.' Address men as 'mister,' 'partner,' or 'stranger,' and women as 'miss' or 'ma'am.' Avoid modern references and technology. Wealthy characters should speak more formally, while outlaws and prospectors can use rougher, more colorful language. Remember to stay in character even during casual conversations, and consider developing a signature phrase or mannerism that defines your character.

A shrewd businesswoman who struck it rich five years ago and now owns half the town, including the newly opened Golden Nugget Saloon. Despite her wealth, Goldie hasn't forgotten her humble beginnings as a prospector. She's known for her sharp tongue and sharper business sense. Recently, she's been receiving threatening notes regarding a disputed claim from her early days. Goldie keeps a loaded derringer in her garter and isn't afraid to use it if crossed.

Billy arrived at the Golden Nugget's opening with an invitation that no one admits to sending and has been asking suspicious questions about the saloon's safe and security arrangements.

D

Dusty Rhodes

A grizzled old prospector who's been searching for the motherlode for over thirty years. Most folks dismiss Dusty as a harmless eccentric, but beneath the rambling stories and disheveled appearance lies a keen mind and encyclopedic knowledge of the region's geology. Despite appearing poor, Dusty somehow always has enough money for whiskey.

P

Pearl E. Gates

The mysterious new performer at the Golden Nugget with a voice like an angel and the aim of a sharpshooter. A distinctive playing card—the queen of hearts with a bullet hole through it—serves as Pearl's calling card.

Once a respected physician in Chicago, Doc fled west after a scandal involving a wealthy patient's death. Now serving as Dust Gulch's doctor and undertaker, Doc has a fondness for gambling and whiskey that borders on dependency.
